Eye of the Needle

$5,800

Eye of the Needle distills Yuri Zatarain's language into a single uninterrupted gesture: a long cream-toned ceramic column rising from an oval foot, swelling at the shoulder, and curling back through itself to leave a clean, full circular aperture carved through the upper third. The satin, low-sheen surface reads almost like skin — a warm bone ground interrupted by a dense charcoal bloom on the right shoulder, faint graphite trails running down the waist, a darkened mark near the base, and a soft graphite wash inside the ring that pulls the eye through. Geometry and accident sit side by side, and the piece refuses to choose between them.
